Bio
Erin Boberg Doughton is an Assistant Professor and Mentor at PNCA teaching Performance, BFA Thesis Seminar and Professional Practice. She brings years of experience as an artist and curator to her teaching practice, supporting artists through the development and presentation of their work with a focus on emerging forms, interdisciplinary, socially and civically engaged practice, site-specific projects and collaborations.
Doughton serves as co-Artistic Director and Curator of Performance at PICA (Portland Institute for Contemporary Art,) curating and producing performance and interdisciplinary projects as part of PICA‘s annual TBA (Time-Based Art) Festival as well as year-round presentations and residencies. She recently served as a Hub Site representative for the National Dance Project (NDP), as is currently on the Partner Advisory Council of the National Performance Network (NPN) and a member of the First Nations Performing Arts Working Consortium.
Drawing on a background in theatre and dance, she has recently developed installations and interdisciplinary projects using task-based actions and domestic objects to reveal moments of disruption and magic in everyday life. She was part of the inaugural cohort of the Outer Voice artist alliance at Oregon Contemporary in 2023/2024 and has recently shown her work at Performance Works Northwest and Artspace in Lake Oswego.
Doughton holds an MFA in Visual Studies from Pacific Northwest College of Art, Willamette University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from Lewis & Clark College.
