Bio
Greg Felker studies the politics of economic development and the political and social transformations wrought in Asia by a changing global economic system. He focuses on the institutions and strategies that shape interactions among Asian states, business sectors, and transnational economic forces. In particular he has focused on industrial policies, investment promotion, innovation systems, and high-technology industries like electronics, semiconductors, and information technology. Malaysia has been a particular focus of his research, and he has had two Fulbright fellowships to conduct research in that country. Felker has pursued this research for three decades, and prior to joining the Willamette faculty lived for a decade in four different countries in Asia. At Willamette's College of Liberal Arts he teaches introductions to international and comparative politics as well as seminars on Capitalism & Democracy, Globalization, Asia & the International System, and Politics in the Developing World. He has served as Chair of Willamette's inter-departmental International Studies Program.
