Bio
As the assistant vice president of communications, Lauren leads university staff in the work of crafting inspirational and compelling stories of current students, professors, alumni as well as the university at large. She brings her experience in strategic communication planning and media engagement to drive proactive outreach for university news within the pacific northwest and beyond. A graduate of a small liberal arts university, Lauren is passionate about showcasing the value of higher-education and the unique student experience found at places like Willamette.
Working in the public relations field for more than 17 years, Lauren brings a breadth of experience to the role. Beginning her career in the tech sector working with industry leaders including Microsoft, Lauren cut her teeth learning how to position brands on a global scale. She narrowed her focus to the government sector and gained experience in a variety of fields including transportation, health and natural resources. Topping her accomplishments during that time includes leading outreach for the Oregon Department of Transportation on the successful 10-year 90-million dollar technology replacement project and expansion of online services for the Oregon DMV.
Outside of the office she enjoys small town living with her husband Patrick (BA’07, MAT’09), teaching her two young children how to play tennis and serving on her local library board.
