Bio

Professor Lockard is an Exercise Physiologist in the Department of Exercise and Health Science as well as an affiliated faculty member of the Health Ethics, Advocacy, and Leadership program. His research focus is the physiological mechanisms by which repetitive physical stress, such as regular physical activity, influences the function of the body. This research has followed two distinct tracks: 1) A clinically oriented track focused on cardiovascular disease prevention and vascular health, incorporating diabetic peripheral neuropathy. 2) A performance training track, specifically focusing on Junior Olympic (JO) women’s gymnastics and the ongoing research study, the FLIPS study.
