Peter Wogan's anthropological research has focused on contemporary cultures of Mexico, Ecuador, and the United States. In addition to journal articles, he has published three books: namely, Corner-Store Dreams and the 2008 Financial Crisis: Risk, Immigration, Entrepreneurship, and Latino-Anglo Friendship(Palgrave Macmillan, 2017); Hollywood Blockbusters: The Anthropology of Popular Movies (with David Sutton, Berg, 2009); and Magical Writing in Salasaca: Literacy and Power in Highland Ecuador(Westview Press, 2004). His online essays include "Why Do We Throw Coins in Fountains?," and his most recent research focuses on virtual reality.
