Prior to becoming Dean, Autrey served as the Atkinson School’s Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, with responsibility for directing all aspects of the undergraduate business program and overseeing NASPAA accreditation. As chair of the Curriculum Committee, she spearheaded curricular innovations at all levels, including the BS in Business Administration and the One-Year MBA degree programs. In addition, she has served as Chair of the Oregon State Treasury’s Audit Committee and as the external member on the Oregon Judicial Department’s Internal Audit Committee.

Prior to joining academia, she worked in the Silicon Valley office at KPMG (1994-2000), rising to Senior Manager in the Intellectual Property Services practice. Autrey is a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Management Accountant, Certified Fraud Examiner, and Certified in Financial Forensics.
Autrey earned her Ph.D. in Accounting at the University of Texas at Austin in 2005. Her research explores the use of incentives and other management control systems to foster desirable behaviors. Romana grew up in New Orleans, and she feels right at home with the Pacific Northwest’s vibrant food and wine scene. In addition to spending time with her husband Tito and their two teenagers—and three incredibly fluffy cats—Romana enjoys reading science fiction, playing bridge and strategy board games, challenge square dancing, and assorted handicrafts.
