Bio
I worked extensively on Heidegger and Kierkegaard as an undergraduate with Hubert Dreyfus at UC Berkeley where I wrote a senior thesis on John Searle's account of Intentionality. I have a PhD in philosophy from Harvard University, with a dissertation on Heidegger's reading of Nietzsche. I taught for 10 years after that at Yale University and published articles while there on Heidegger and a book on Nietzsche with Cornell University Press. I am fluent in French and speak German passably well. My most recent work is on Dostoevsky. I have a long standing interest in and practice of Chinese martial arts. Finally, I train dogs semi-professionally and compete in dog sport (IGP) with an Airedale Terrier.
