Bio
Tim Roby is the Senior Enterprise Business Analyst (BA) for Enterprise Information Services (EIS) in the Project Portfolio Performance (P3) team. Tim has over 15 years of experience as a public sector BA. He received his Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) certification in 2017. Before that, he was a Lead Transformation Business Analyst for the Oregon DMV core system replacement and modernization project. Before joining the DMV, he was a BA for the Oregon Health Authority’s Behavioral Health Measures and Outcomes Tracking System (MOTS). Prior to State service, he worked for the Bonneville Power Administration in a role that included BA duties.
Tim is an Army Reserve Civil Affairs veteran with linguist skills, one Iraq deployment, one Joint International training mission to Thailand, and a Home-station Family Readiness mobilization under his belt. In 9 years as a Reservist, he served 4.5 years on Active Duty orders. He also worked a civilian job within the unit for a few years.
Tim is the voice for the Business Analyst Networking Group (BANG) Forums as the primary MC. Tim has also taught several BA and Project Management training courses since 2022. Tim recently completed his Master’s in Information Systems.
Tim is a career BA who is very passionate about advancing the practice of BA in state government and helping ALL BAs develop and create meaningful value for their organizations.
In his spare time, Tim enjoys watching his son play sports. He plays almost everything, but Tim particularly enjoys watching him play football and lacrosse. Tim also enjoys building things and tackling a variety of different DIY projects around the house. Tim often escapes to the coast with his wife to relax and recharge.
