Bio
Warren Binford is an international children's rights scholar and advocate and the inaugural W.H. Lea for Justice Endowed Chair in Pediatric Law, Ethics & Policy and Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Colorado Anschutz School of Medicine where she works with the Kempe Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Child Abuse and Neglect and the Center for Bioethics and the Humanities. She is also a Professor of Law at CU Law by courtesy. She frequently lectures, publishes, and grants media interviews both internationally and across the U.S. on topics primarily related to children's rights. She has collaborated with the International Red Cross, the Croatian Red Cross, the Japan Red Cross, the International Criminal Court, Save the Children, UNICEF, and the International Law Association. She has represented the Dutch National Rapporteur on Trafficking in Human Beings and Sexual Violence against Children as an amicus curiae in the U.S. Supreme Court and served as an expert witness to the UK Independent Inquiry into Child Sex Abuse. She was a 2012 Fulbright Scholar in South Africa and the inaugural Fulbright Canada-Palix Foundation Distinguished Visiting Research Chair in Brain Science, and Child and Family Health and Wellness at the University of Calgary in 2015. Prior to joining the University of Colorado, Professor Binford was a Professor of Law and Director of the Clinical Law Program at Willamette University for 16 years. She holds a B.A., summa cum laude with distinction, and an Ed.M. from Boston University and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.
