Intramural Sports

Volleyball is one of the many Intramural Sports available at Willamette

Intramural sports are an excellent way to spend time with friends, get in a little exercise, and take a break from the stress of classes! We offer a wide variety of sports, each of which can be played at the level of competitiveness you are most comfortable with.

Our intramural staff of sports officials and supervisors are 100% Willamette students. We work together to train our staff to be knowledgeable and professional while they are scheduling, managing and officiating tournaments.

  • There is no pay to play! All leagues and tournaments are free!

  • If you are playing an indoor intramural, you will play in Henkle Gym (the lower gym). Any outdoor intramurals are played on Sparks Field (soccer field), Brown Field, or the Quad.
  • Officials are needed for soccer, flag football, and basketball. If you are interested, please contact Quinn Nottage. We hire sport specific referees. Apply for any/all sports you would like. Officials enjoy meeting people, developing critical job skills, and scheduling their own hours!
  • You are allowed to play on one team per league or tournament. There is no team hopping or switching during play. Specific eligibility rules are outlined in the Policies and Procedures section.

  • Again, specific eligibility rules are outlined in the Policies and Procedures section. In general, current varsity athletes (rostered athletes that have competed on a varsity team within 2 years) can play without restrictions on any team with the following exception: When an athlete plays in a like sport (basketball athlete playing IM basketball), that team is subject to the 2 rule, meaning that teams are allowed only two current athletes on a roster at any one time in a like sport. Only one current varsity athlete is allowed to play at any one time. NOTE: Individual cases may be appealed to the rule prior to participation.
