ODP Leader Recruitment

The Outdoor Program seeks students from all backgrounds to join us as ODP Leaders. ODP Leader recruitment starts in September. Applications will be open briefly before interviews begin in late September. Applicants chosen for ODP training will attend classroom session series in the fall honing skills like group management, expanding knowledge of icebreakers and teambuilders, discussing risk management, and more. Leaders then return early for Spring semester to attend a winter skills field training where ODP experienced leaders guide new leaders through practicing the new skills and competencies.

Additional trainings are required and provided including wilderness First Aid and CPR and AED training. All ODP Leaders meet throughout the year, continuously developing skills and community. Our Leaders recommend activities for trips, choose our schedule from trips, support campus activities like Kickoff and Field Day. Maybe most notable, our ODP Leaders design and lead our popular Steppin' Out program for incoming students.
