Facilities
The faculty and students of the Department of Exercise and Health Science utilize several facilities around campus, to accommodate our many and diverse course offerings, research interests, and community outreach opportunities. Our students and faculty spend a considerable amount of time and energy in each of these facilities.
The Department of Exercise and Health Science is housed in the fourth floor of the Collins Science Center, where the faculty offices, Human Anatomy Laboratory, iScience Laboratory, and classrooms are located. These spaces are designed for interdisciplinary collaborations among students and faculty. Additionally, Collins Science Center houses several other science programs.
Anatomy Laboratory
The Human Anatomy Laboratory is located on the 4th floor of Collins Hall in room 408. Our newly renovated laboratory space includes two new human Cadavers each year! Further, we have expanded (with some help from our friends at the Oregon Medical Education Foundation) to include a digital dissection table and augmented reality using the Visible Body Application! Our state-of-the-art laboratory features overhead ventilation; down-drafted dissection tables, overhead digital dissection displays, mobile medical lamps and much more! Students working in the laboratory have the privilege of working with real bodies, a fact that has enhanced their educational experience, both at Willamette and beyond.

iSCIENCE Laboratory
Faculty from the Departments of Psychology and Exercise and Health Science have led the effort to create truly interdisciplinary, integrated, introductory science courses and were recently rewarded with a grant from the National Science Foundation. The funds allowed the purchase of six new Biopac data acquisition systems and associated software and hardware to be housed in the newly established iScience Laboratory. This laboratory is a cornerstone of the new Human Sciences Initiative launched recently by the two departments.

Integrated Exercise and Health Science Laboratory
The Integrated Exercise and Health Science Laboratory is located in the Atkinson Annex. This flexible space is used by Clinical Healthcare, Biomechanics, Physiology of Exercise, and several elective courses. In addition, the space is utilized for student group research projects, senior research projects, and faculty research projects. The lab also hosts sessions of several outreach program for regional middle and high school students. Over the past few years, we were successful in providing the equipment and resources that facilitated increased student learning, and student and faculty research productivity.
