State Licensure and Certification
Professional Licensure and Certification Disclosure Requirements
Institutions providing distance education programs, regardless of modality, that prepare students for professional licensure must provide certain general disclosures relating to whether or not the educational program meets the requirements for professional licensure in all other states.
School of Law: While professional licensure and certification requirements can vary from state to state, receiving a J.D. Degree is the first step toward licensure in U.S. Jurisdictions. In each of the below jurisdictions, receiving a degree from a U.S. law school accredited by the Council of the Section of Legal Education and Admissions to the Bar of the American Bar Association is sufficient to meet the educational requirements that allow an applicant to seek full licensure, though particular candidates may need to take specific non-credit courses or exams on state law to be fully eligible for admission. Willamette University’s law school is approved by the Council of the Section of Legal Education and Admissions to the Bar of the American Bar Association, 321 North Clark Street, Chicago, IL 60654, 312-988-6738, and receiving a JD from Willamette meets the basic educational degree requirements in the below jurisdictions.
Willamette University School of Law strives to provide accurate and timely information by state. This information is, however, subject to change and there might be other states with unique licensure requirements. Students should contact the appropriate licensing agency for any state where they seek licensure in order to obtain the most current information.
