ASWU Sound is your on campus event A/V
ASWU Sound started in 2001 as the student led initiative to bring quality event audio to the Willamette campus at little or no cost. Today, ASWU Sound is a collection of students led by a full time staff member dedicated to supporting events on campus, making sure they sound and look as good as possible.
We function as a paid hands-on training ground for individuals interested in the live event industry as sound engineers, deck hands, lighting operators, and stage managers. As many of our technicians go on to work in the production industry as professionals, our goal is to provide real world on the job training preparing for post college, coming away with industry networking, job skills, and career readiness for any industry.
Note for larger events: A spider box may be required for events with a large amount of equipment. You will be notified upon requesting the event if a spider box needs to be requested from Willamette Facilities.
If you have any questions, contact Event A/V Coordinator.
Should I contact ASWU Sound or WITS?
ASWU Sound has the equipment and training for events in Smith Auditorium, Hudson Hall, and outside like Jackson Plaza or Brown Field. We also handle complicated events needing 4+ microphones with a sound technician, party lighting, and really loud events, like dances!
WITS handles spaces with built in A/V technology such as Cat Cavern, Ford, Montag Den, and any of the classroom spaces. They can be reached at their service portal.
