Day hikes with the Outdoor Program range from 2 to 8 miles round trip usually to an impressive viewpoint. Our day hikes are less strenuous than those in the Challenge Series, however, you will get some exercise and have an adventure nonetheless!
Hop into one of our kayaks and learn some basic paddling skills that will aid you in exploring rivers, lakes, and estuaries. Kayaking is a fantastic way to see gorgeous scenery and wildlife and to stretch your arms! We also have stand up paddleboards...
Our backpacking trips are 2 or more days in length and include 3 to 10 miles per day with a backpack that usually weighs around 30 pounds and contains all your food and camping gear. You and the group will hike to a destination, cook and camp there, and hike to a new destination the next day.
Our outdoor climbing trips are led by professional guides who will teach you the basics of top rope climbing at world famous destinations. Our indoor climbing trips will give you the opportunity to practice top-roping and bouldering in an indoor setting.
Overnights can be in tents, yurts or other accommodations. We book the location and bring you and all the gear and food we need for our time away from campus.
Our Ski & Snowboard trips typically go to Mt. Hood Meadows for a full day on the mountain. These trip costs include transportation to and from the mountain and lift tickets. Participants are responsible for providing their own gear or borrowing pieces from the ODP gear library.
Beyond the primary categories, we also offer other trips including Oregon Zoo, Oregon Coast Aquarium, Christmas lights viewing, yurting, stand up paddleboarding, hot springs, horseback riding, white water rafting, whale watching and more!
Are you looking to challenge yourself in the outdoors? Have you always wanted to experience the personal rewards of climbing a mountain or hiking for an entire day? Join us on our Challenge Series which consists of intermediate skill building or increased intensity of physical effort.
All of our trips go out whether rain or shine. We have resources that we can provide upon request if you need it for our trips. We have rain gear, hiking boots, wool socks, hats, warm base layers, gaiters and gloves!
We offer financial assistance to remove barriers to participating in the ODP and Campus Recreation programs. Not all requests can be met.
Register for your desired program before submitting your application to reserve your spot. If you are approved for an award, that amount can be refunded to you. If you decide the award is not enough to offset your expenses, you can cancel for a full refund by noon on the Monday before the start of the program.

Note the refund policy per trip as some trips require earlier cancellation due to contract limitations with vendors.
