Confidential Support Options
The Confidential Advocate, Bishop Wellness, and SARAs are able to provide confidential support to anyone seeking help.
On-Campus
Students may obtain absolutely confidential assistance and access campus resources by speaking with a confidential resource person at one of the following entities:
Confidential Advocate
With the confidential advocate, individuals can seek information, options and specific support about their rights and resources, including assistance contacting law enforcement, medical care or state services/programs off campus.

Counseling Services in Bishop Wellness Center
Provides confidential counseling for survivors, friends, partners and individuals accused of sexual misconduct by appointment and emergency appointments available for urgent needs.

WUTalk
WUTalk is a 24-hour telephone crisis counseling support line serviced by ProtoCall. When you call WUTalk, you will be connected to a call center staffed by Masters and Ph.D level counselors familiar with Willamette's resources. Calls are free and confidential. Your contact with WUTalk will not become part of your academic record, but the counselors at Bishop Wellness Center will be notified that you called so they can follow up with you as needed.

Sexual Assault Response Advocates (SARA)
SARA is a network of trained, unbiased peer advocates who provide CONFIDENTIAL support, resources, and education to all members of the Willamette University community who have experienced sexual or domestic harassment, assault, or violence, directly or indirectly.

Off-Campus
Salem Hospital Emergency Department
Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE Program) - Confidential medical response, 24/7, at the Emergency Department. No appointment necessary. Reporting to law enforcement is not required to access care.
- Medical exams for injury and forensic evidence collection post-assault
- Medications for possible STI exposure and pregnancy prevention offered to survivors at no cost
- A trained advocate offered to support survivors during visit
Center for Hope & Safety
Provides support for people of any gender (LGBTQ advocate available).

Sexual Misconduct and Title IX Contacts

- Writes, delivers, and enforces Restricted Contact Letters
- Will assist in referral to Salem Police Department if requested
- Officers dispatched twenty-four hours a day
Marion County District Attorney’s Office (503) 588-5253
- Victim Assistance Division
- 24- hour on-call response for the victims of sexual assault regardless of survivors intention to report to law enforcement (often responds to Salem Hospital)
- Ongoing support and advocacy throughout the investigation and prosecution of cases brought to the District Attorney’s Office
