The American Constitution Society (ACS) believes that law should be a force to improve the lives of all people. ACS works for positive change by shaping the debate on vitally important legal and constitutional issues through the development and promotion of high-impact ideas to opinion leaders and the media; by building networks of lawyers, law students, judges, and policymakers dedicated to those ideas; and by countering the activist conservative legal movement that has sought to erode our enduring constitutional values. By bringing together powerful, relevant ideas and passionate, talented people, ACS makes a difference in the constitutional, legal, and public policy debates that shape our democracy.

Willamette Law Students for Sensible Drug Policy (Willamette LSSDP) became a recognized student organization in fall 2017. Students for Sensible Drug Policy is an international grassroots network of students dedicated to developing sound drug policy that addresses the impact of drug abuse on our communities. SSDP mobilizes and empowers young people to participate in the political process, pushing for sensible policies to achieve a safer and more just future. SSDP does this while fighting back against counterproductive policies — in particular, those that directly harm students and youth.
Prior Willamette SSDP members have testified in the legislature, campaigned for voter-led initiatives, helped create the Oregon State Bar Cannabis Section, and submitted amicus briefs in the United States Supreme Court. We have developed contacts in both the private and public sector and invite all students who want to join our fast-growing network.

About Us
LAAW - Lunch for Attorneys, Advocacy, and Wellness is a space for anyone interested in networking and discussing the issue of food insecurity. LAAW members will get to discuss food insecurity as it relates to the law and its impact on families in our community. Participating in LAAW will allow members to expand their network through events focused on highlighting various legal careers and paths. Attending events will allow members to voice their opinions and vote on future events, topics discussed, and creative ways to fundraise. One of the goals of LAAW is to promote inclusivity among Willamette's law students, so participation in LAAW events and meetings will allow you to get yo know your peers and connect through common interests.
Our Mission
At LAAW, our mission is clear. We aim to nurture the next generation of legal professionals while actively addressing the pressing issue of food insecurity in our community. Through our lunch-based initiatives and educational programs, our goal is to not only raise awareness about hunger issues, but also foster a spirit of service that resonates throughout our community. Our organization is designed to bring together students from various backgrounds, helping us learn from one another while we work towards a common purpose - alleviating hunger and promoting justice. In our efforts to address food insecurity, we plan to nurture empathy and foster understanding through providing meals and information. Every lunch shared, every conversation initiated around the table, opens the door to discussions about social justice and the legal implications of food insecurity in our society. Our goal is to teach future lawyers that advocacy extends beyond the courtroom and into the heart of our communities.
