Community Involvement and Resident Advisors
There are numerous was to get involved in your community. Each residential community has Resident Advisors and Hall Councils who can help provide a vibrant and exciting community.
Getting Involved
Each residential area has an opportunity to get connected through their Resident Advisors, Hall Council, or even the campus-wide Residence Hall Association.-

A Resident Advisor (RA) is a student leader position on the Residence Life and Housing team. RAs are assigned to each residential community and they are available to help residents build a positive community that fosters respect, inclusion, and personal responsibility. RAs are also available to help residents adjust to their communities through connecting them to new people and experiences.
RAs are students who have an understanding of campus resources and events and are able to support residents who are experiencing a problem. They are enthusiastic leaders who strive to help residents make their Willamette experience the best it can be. RAs will:
- Work to ensure that each member of the community feels welcome and valued.
- Help residents get to know each other.
- Assist residents who seek information or assistance with academic or personal concerns.
- Be one of many community members who develop activities and educational opportunities for residents.
- Help develop a sense of community and group responsibility.
- Explain policies and community expectations, and respond to violations of these expectations.
- Perform administrative duties, such as on-duty coverage, maintenance requests, and creating and posting bulletin board content.

Hall Councils are resident led organizations that are focused on allowing students lead events and connection opportunities for other students. Led by the building's professional staff member, these organizations allow students to advocate for each other, develop a community identity, and improve their residential experiences.
Meeting times and locations are advertised to residents each semester.

The Willamette University Residence Hall Association is dedicated to providing engaging programs, leadership opportunities and advocacy for our on-campus residents. RHA values the individual development of lasting friendships, personal responsibility, balance, and emotional growth towards authenticity.
RHA meets inside Montag Den every Wednesday from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM. During meetings, the General Assembly (GA) will listen and vote on funding requests submitted to RHA or work on events and activities in a committee.
