Renters Insurance

As noted in the housing contract, Willamette University does not assume any financial responsibility for the personal property of students. We strongly recommend that all students obtain renters insurance to protect their belongings from theft and damage while they live in the residence halls.

We have partnered with GradGuard, a separate company who offers renters insurance specifically designed for college students. Plans start at around $12 per month.

• How to Sign Up for GradGuard

   

  To look at what GradGuard has to offer, follow the steps below:

  1. Log into the WU Housing Portal
  2. On the left navigation menu, select Applications & Forms
  3. Then select GradGuard Application and Information (Fall 2023)

  

  4. Click on the “Continue” button below. You will be redirected to Willamette’s GradGuard information.

  

  The next screen shows you the cost of the insurance and the options for billing. When you purchase GradGuard, you pay the company directly. Your student account will NOT be billed for the product (effective August 2023).

  

  If you determine that this product is not for you, select “Decline coverage."

  Another screen will pop up and ask if you’re sure about declining coverage.

  

  If you select, “No thanks, I’d like to decline coverage,” you’re done. The last screen will give you other options for insurance.

  

   

   

   

   

  The next screen will acknowledge that you viewed the GradGuard materials.

  

  You will also receive an email that says you have completed the application. This does not mean that you signed up for the product.
